On other occasions, if we’re frank, we go through the motions. We sometimes feel that we spend too little time praying.

We can easily adopt a variety of negative views of prayer. Prayer can sometimes seem to be something of a problem. Softness, and peace, and joy, and love, and bliss,Ĭhurch-bells beyond the stars heard, the soul’s blood, The six-days world transposing in an hour,Ī kind of tune, which all things hear and fear Reversed thunder, Christ-side-piercing spear, The Christian plummet sounding heav’n and earthĮngine against th’ Almighty, sinner’s tow’r, The soul in paraphrase, heart in pilgrimage, God’s breath in man returning to his birth, PRAYER the church’s banquet, angel’s age, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.įor the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,īut the way of the wicked leads to destruction. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, Who does not walk in step with the wickedīut whose delight is in the law of the Lord,Īnd who meditates on his law day and night. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
